Lesson Four: Swelling Solution

1/2 cup pufferfish eyes, dried and crushed

1/2 cup water

4 tablespoons armadillo bile

1 tablespoon dittany

1/2 cup pomegranate juice

1/2 cup sliced ginger root

1/4 cup black beetles, crushed

Using a mortar and pestle, crush up the pufferfish eyes, before adding the to the COLD cauldron. Adding the cup of water, mix until the pufferfish eyes and the water form a sort of paste. Light a fire under the cauldron and add one tablespoon of the armadillo bile at a time, making 5 clockwise stirs after ever tablespoon until it is all incorporated. Once all of the armadillo bile is incorporated, it should be black. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes before dripping in the dittany one drop at a time, with one counter clockwise stir after every drop. The potion should now be a very dark green. Add the pomegranate, allow the mixture to begin to boil and then make 25 clockwise and 25 counterclockwise stirs. This should fade the mixture to a kelly green. Add all of the ginger and the beetles quickly, and make 10 counterclockwise and 13 clockwise stirs before allowing to simmer for a further 10 minutes. Put out the fire, allow the potion to cool and bottle it. It should be pale green in color.
